It’s been awhile since the first post of Kid Reads. I am still juggling between work, housechores and reading. I don’t have much time for it, honestly. But old habits are hard to break. I will always find the time to read.

This morning, AJ came to me with this book. He crawled up to bed and asked me to read it for him. Then we began our journey. Suddenly, an Indonesian song came to my mind. Ambilkan Bulan, Bu. Well, nevermind. I always have this random thought while reading.
Yes, I love Eric Carle books. I love the illustrations. Fortunately, I just discussed about book genres and parts of a book with my students. Probably I will bring this book to my class.
This book teaches children about:
• different sizes and shapes of a moon
• curiosity
• things you can see in the sky at night
• daddy’s love
• the use of a ladder
• being patience
I love childrens book because we can learn about so many things in a few pages. And, of course, everything is simplified.

I like it when the moon becomes bigger and smaller and bigger again.
Kid Reads: The Little Engine that Could
Welcome to our new segment. Starting this month, I’m going to review children’s books, and perhaps, give some recommendations. Kid’s books are fun to read. It’s full colors, lightweight, and easy to absorb. The message is clear too. Each book has a purpose and, I feel a bit nostalgic everytime I read it. It always gives a good feeling. That’s what it’s all about, right?
And, our first book is:

Designed especially for toddlers, this large die-cut board book features an intriguing locomotive shape, bright, cheery illustrations, and a simple retelling of the original story just right for reading aloud.
I bought this book merely because I was given a list of readings that teach about The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Kids. It’s not compulsory to buy the books, but I think teaching kids through reading is very effective.
Since AJ’s school implements the 7 habits daily, it’s good to prolong the learning at home.
I love this book. It teaches kids to empower them to overcome difficulties.

Pengakuan dosa lagi. Hari ini iman goyah gara-gara Periplus PIM menggelar diskon up to 50% (grrrr…). Siapa yang nggak ngiler beli buku seharga 12 ribuan?
Itu pun udah dipilah-pilah dan dengan sangat terpaksa tidak bisa membeli semua buku incaran mengingat ketatnya dompet.
